Eating your way around the globe just got a whole lot easier – thanks to the winners of the World Culinary Awards 2022.

The top global spots have been announced – covering every continent – offering plenty of eating and drinking inspiration for future trips.

It’s worth pointing out that the awards stretch beyond the seven main continents (although, perhaps unsurprisingly, there’s no restaurant for Antarctica), as the winners also feature spots in the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean.

Picking up gold for the ‘World’s Best Restaurant’ this year was Mayta – a Michelin-starred restaurant in Lima – which offers a traditional and sustainable take on Peruvian cuisine. It was also named the best restaurant in Latin America.

For Africa, La Colombe in Cape Town scooped the award for combining local ingredients with a French twist, in a treehouse-style setting.

Whereas for Asia, Anan in Ho Chi Minh City was named the best. Located in Ho Chi Minh’s oldest wet market, the name of this spot translates as ‘eat eat’ – and with a 13-course chef’s tasting menu you can really get stuck in.

Uliassi in Senigallia, Italy, was crowned as the best for Europe – specialising in seafood and fine wines. This establishment also features in the World’s 50 Best awards.

Whereas, Château Mon Désir in Turtle Bay, Mauritius, scooped the Indian Ocean award and Attica in Melbourne won for the Oceania category.

In North America, Atelier Crenn in San Francisco was named as the best. Chef Dominique Crenn is at the helm at this place, with a menu inspired by childhood and her artist father.

And last, but not least, COYA in Dubai was voted as the best in the Middle East.
